Types of fitted sinks for your worktops:

Fitted Sink

Overmounted sinks

This type of sink sits on top of the counter, with a flange or lip sealed down onto the stone. Because the hole through the stone is not visible, it doesn't need to be polished. It is also cheaper than undermounted and can be fitted quickly and easily, however your cleaning regime must be thorough, as dirt can collect quickly within the seams.

Fitted Sink

Undermounted sinks
An undermounted sink can give the illusion that your kitchen is bigger. They are fitted below the worktop, with a polished hole cut in the stone. Tap holes must be cut into the stone, Undermounted sinks are ideal because they do not collect dirt around the rim. With this type of sink many people also have drainage grooves ground and polished into the top surface. Undermounted sinks are the most popular option when it comes to choosing sinks for quartz and granite worktops.

Recommendations for undermount sink fitting:

We always recommend a minimum of 90mm of quartz or granite at the front and back of the worktop.
For a tap hole in the back of the worktop we always recommend a minimum of 125 mm at the back
In the case of two separate under-mounted sinks fitted side by side, we recommend a minimum of 70mm on the middle.

Fitted Sink

Butler sinks / Belfast sinks

Belfast sinks are fitted just underneath the lip of the worktop and sit marginally over the bottom of the lower cabinets. They sit below the worktop but come right to the front of the worktop. They have a three-sided polished cut out.
